A free image viewer app

Finder Browser is a free photography tool that enables you to easily browse images in the same folder. Developed by Tekuris, this multimedia software is a handy plugin and features quick image-viewing with just a few clicks.

Similar to Xee, Finder Browser supports a wide range of image file formats and can even display the first page of PDF documents. However, apart from this function, there’s hardly anything else that this program can do. It doesn’t have a lot of advanced features so it’s not as versatile as other image tools.

No need to open folders

Viewing photos on your computer is easy enough with just left-clicking to open them with the default image viewer program. You can also access this function by right-clicking and selecting the appropriate choice in the contextual menu. Most of the time, these are enough and you simply get third-party applications for more advanced settings. However, one uncommon feature is the ability to preview images without opening a folder.

This is Finder Browser’s main function and is specially designed for the Finder and Path Finder tools. As a plugin, it offers a small contextual menu and adds the option to browse all images inside a single folder—altogether skipping the process of opening it. You can access this function via right-click and it will automatically read most image file formats. It can even preview the first page of PDFs.

However, as convenient as this lightweight software is, it doesn’t offer any advanced features or settings. It can correctly orient certain image formats but that’s about it. It could use some more variety in how you can view the images in the folder. It would also help to have the option to select which specific formats you’d like to view inside them.

Needs more features

All in all, Finder Browser is a nice little tool if you’re having trouble with quick-viewing on Finder and Path Finder. It completely bypasses opening folders and just lets you see images straight-on. However, the lack of more features can be disappointing as this program has a lot of potential. If you’re looking for more configurations on your image viewer, it’s best to try other applications.

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.

Flag any particular issues you may encounter and Softonic will address those concerns as soon as possible.
